Dear SkyTechSport Customer,
We are sharing an important notice regarding new-generation smartphones and certain SkyTechSport Ski & Snowboard Simulator models manufactured before May 2025.
Some of the newest smartphones — including iPhone 15 and similar devices — now use continuous LiDAR when the camera app is open. This is a recent change introduced by phone manufacturers, and this LiDAR behavior did not exist at the time these simulators were originally produced.
The LiDAR signal on these phones operates at a wavelength very close to the one used in the simulator’s optical safety system. When the phone’s LiDAR is pointed directly at the right-side optical receiver (from the skier’s perspective), it may cause a temporary false trigger of the safety system.
The phone does not disable or override the optical safety system. It simply may cause the system to activate briefly, the same way it would in a real safety event. The system is doing exactly what it is designed to do — stop the simulator if something interrupts the optical signal.
To take photos or videos safely:
This camera angle eliminates the interaction entirely.
We have developed an updated optical safety system that is not affected by LiDAR and can be installed on simulators made before May 2025.
